Description | Near what village |
L'Oppidum d'Enserune, a settlement many centuries before Christ,
and later a way station along the Roman "Via Domitia". Considered one of the most important archaeological sites in Europe, the area has been extensively excavated and a museum erected to display artifacts found there. The visitor can look down on what were once dwelling sites and imagine what day to day life was like 2500 years ago. As the Oppidum is high on a hill, the view of the surrounding countryside is breathtaking. |
